Yaseen Foundation highly encourages local Muslim residents to become members of the Organization. Yaseen Foundation is a California registered non-profit organization that is governed by a Yaseen Constitution and operated by formally elected officers. Having a base of members that are eligible to vote, nominate, be nominated, and lead the organization is foundational to the existence and effectiveness of the organization. Why is it important to be a member? - Strengthen the community: The more registered members, the more power we have as a community in many aspects such as influencing policy, getting support and showing financial strength.
- Voting rights: You must be a member to vote on major issues, nominate officers, and elect officers.
- Participate in leading the organization: You must be a registered member to be nominated for one of the officer positions. To be nominated for the Executive Committee, you must be a member of the foundation for a minimum of one year.
- Member benefits: There is a small set of Yaseen services that is limited to members only.
Can I still benefit from Yaseen services if I’m not a member? - Yes. Yaseen services are open to everyone in the community (Muslims and non-Muslims). You do not need to be a member to sign up for services or attend public Yaseen events, prayers, or celebrations.
Who can be a Member? - A member shall testify in the basic beliefs of Islamic faith.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Must be a resident of the San Francisco Bay Area. Exceptions are possible by Executive Committee approval.
- Must pay the minimum membership dues (currently $25 per year) or obtain a waiver due to financial hardship.
- Must understand the Yaseen Constituion and Bylaws and must abide by them.
If I am a member, are all members of my family automatically members? - No. Each person over the age of 16 must register as a member.
- Note that as a member, your family will enjoy all the benefits of membership. However, they will not have voting rights unless they register as separate members
